Courses for Jilin University students

We are delighted to offer students from Jilin University the opportunity to spend either two years or one semester at the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health at Manchester.

Two-year intercalated degree

If you are a Bioengineering, Biological Pharmacy, Biological Science, Biotechnology or Pharmaceutics student from Jilin University, you can spend your first three years at Jilin before finishing your degree in Manchester, where you will spend two years with us.

Available courses

Students meeting the above criteria will be able to enter the second year of any of the following degree programmes at Manchester. Click on a link to see full information about that course.

Entry requirements

You will need to obtain an average of 75% or better during your first five semesters of study at Jilin University and one of the following:

  • an IELTS score of 6.5 or higher in each element for direct entry;
  • an IELTS score of 6.0 or higher in each element for entry via the six-week pre-sessional English course offered by the University Language Centre;
  • an equivalent English qualification recognised by The University of Manchester.

How to apply

You should apply via UCAS and select 3 as your point of entry. We will contact you via email to provide you with a detailed list of the documents we require for your application.

You will be required to send scanned copies of your up-to-date academic transcript and English language certificate to ug.biosciences@manchester.ac.uk. You will receive acknowledgement emails from UCAS and The University of Manchester.

You will be interviewed by a member of staff from Manchester. This may be via Skype or a representative in your country. If successful, you will receive an offer through UCAS.

Finally, you will be contacted again by the University once it is time to select the units you would like to study on your course with us.

At this point, you will also be sent detailed information about settling in, accommodation and the support available to you here in Manchester.

Careers

A degree in biosciences can help you develop skills you can use in a wide range of careers. Your chosen course will help you build knowledge in your specialist area, which could be applied across a number of sectors, from education and research to producing documentaries and roles in technology. The University also delivers bespoke careers events for Chinese students to help you in your chosen career.

Semester-long visits

We invite fourth-year students from the Tang Aoqing Class at the College of Life Sciences, Jilin to spend one semester at Manchester.

Available course units

You will be able to study any of the first year, second year or final year units offered by the School of Biological Sciences at Manchester, as long as you meet the pre/co-requisites.

Entry requirements

You will need to obtain an average of 80% or better during your first five semesters of study at Jilin University and one of the following:

  • an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with no individual component less than 5.5;
  • an equivalent English qualification recognised by The University of Manchester.
