Photography competition
For all biology, medicine and health students
Calling all creatives!
We're looking for biology, medicine and health students on any course or research programme to submit your photographs for our brand-new Faculty photo montage book.
Created by students for potential students, the aim is to give an insight into studying at The University Manchester in a creative and original way.
You can submit photos in all or one of the following categories. There is no limit to the number of images you can enter.
Below are the categories and some ideas within each to get your creativity flowing – feel free to expand on these ideas: they're just a starting point. Your style may be abstract, artistic or realistic - just have fun and be creative!
The deadline for entries is 11pm on Monday 5 January 2026.

Your course
How would you visually represent your course? Ideas may include:
- Close ups of equipment or facilities
- Your study notes or space
- Uniforms (for those who wear them)
- You and your friends on the course
- Your research
The University of Manchester
What are the highlights? They could include:
- Buildings and architecture
- Your accommodation
- University cafes and facilities
- The Hubs
- Student Union
Friends
It's a big part of university life! You may choose to feature:
- Selfies
- Group pics
- Societies
- Sports
- Socials
The city of Manchester
Living in Manchester is a first for many students. Show them what you love the most. Think about:
- Where you like to visit
- Attractions
- Food and drink
- Shopping
- Sport / entertainment
- Travel
- Nature
- Weather
Note: the publication will be used year-round. Please avoid images that are too seasonal.
What's in it for me?
See your pictures in print! If your photo is featured, you will receive a copy of the publication (one per person regardless of the number of entries you submit).
There will also be one winner for each category. Each winner will receive a £50 Amazon voucher.
Important!
The small print:
- This competition is open to students on any Audiology, Biosciences, Dentistry, Medicine, Midwifery, Nursing, Optometry, Pharmacy, Psychology, Public Health, Social Work or Speech and Language Therapy course at The University of Manchester.
- All photos chosen for publication may also be featured in other marketing and recruitment materials including online, social media and print.
- By submitting your images, you are confirming that everyone featured in them agrees to appearing in publications and online.
- Please ensure the file size of your photo is high resolution for print.
Deadline
Monday 5 January 2026, 11pm.
- Photos will be judged at the beginning of January.
- Everyone who has a photo selected for use will be contacted by the end of January.
- A winner for each category will be announced by 13 February.
