The University will run a series of events starting from Monday 20 September 2021. This page will be updated regularly with all new and upcoming events specific to new postgraduate researchers in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
Doctoral Academy induction for all PGRs
Date: Monday 24 October 2022
Location: Whitworth Hall
Time: 2pm-4pm
This session will provide you with an understanding of the PGR support networks, training and opportunities available to you in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
The session will begin with an introduction by the Associate Dean for Postgraduate Research, Dr David Bechtold. You will also have the opportunity to meet the Doctoral Academy key professional services staff members, your PGR reps and the Doctoral Academy Graduate Society (DAGS), and ask any questions you may have.
MRC DTP welcome and induction
Date: Thursday 22 September 2022
Location: Online via Zoom
Time: 1:30pm-3pm
At the induction, you will learn more about the programme structure, as well as meet Dr Anna Woollams (DTP Programme Director), Dr Kevin Couper (Cohort Tutor) and Beth Taylor (DTP Officer).

MCRC-CRUK Manchester Centre induction

The MCRC-Cancer Research UK Manchester Centre and the Division of Cancer Sciences (DCS) warmly invite all new cancer-focused PhD researchers to our joint Welcome Event with The Christie School of Oncology.
Attendance is open to those based across all university Divisions regardless of funding type. This session will provide an introduction to the MCRC, CRUK Manchester Centre and DCS, and Manchester's cancer sciences training landscape.
You will hear from current postgraduate researchers and our Directors and Senior Leadership Team. You will have the opportunity to network with one another and ask questions to our speakers.

Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute (CRUK MI)

This event is open to new postgraduate students who will be based within a CRUK Manchester Institute research group and supervisor, regardless of funding route.
The session will provide an introduction to the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, our research staff, education committee, annual colloquium, annual PGR assessments, wellbeing and social activities.
Joint PhD Programme with Singapore A*STAR Institutes

At this induction event, you will learn more about the programme structure, including how your time is split between Manchester and Singapore. You will also meet the Programme Director, Professor Christoph Ballestrem.
