With a wide range of faculties and institutes, the university boasts a vibrant campus that fosters a dynamic learning environment, enabling students to engage in intellectual pursuits while enjoying a rich cultural and social life. The Faculty of Medicine of Alexandria was established in 1942, by Ibrahim Pasha and Mohammad Mahfouz, Professor of Surgery, and has grown exponentially since - in reputation and size - from the original cohort of four students to 1,071 graduating in 2006.

Ranked 6th in the UK for Medicine (QS World University Rankings 2025), Manchester has one of the UK’s largest and most innovative medical schools, where the key approach is active learning through the study of themed case discussions, combined with learning in clinical placements. This is supported throughout the course by lectures, practical classes (including anatomy dissection), team-based learning (TBL) and clinical experience.

Medicine at Manchester is based in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, which has close links with local hospitals in Greater Manchester, providing undergraduate medical students with excellent clinical practice opportunities.
