Combat infectious diseases

Taught courses

Focus on infectious diseases

We offer three cutting-edge courses designed to train the next generation of specialists with the skills to tackle the global challenges posed by infectious diseases.

The courses are delivered by members of our Infection Academy. The Infection Academy has access to over 100 world-leading experts in virology, bacteriology and mycology. This enables our courses to cover clinical and research programmes that explore a broad range of themes including:

  • therapeutic interventions;
  • antimicrobial resistance;
  • diagnostics;
  • immunology;
  • epidemiology.

Choose your course and join the global fight to tackle infectious diseases threatening humanity.

Infection Biology

Our MSc Infection Biology course will provide you with outstanding theoretical and practical training in virology, bacteriology, mycology, parasitology and immunology. You will also undertake a five-month project in the laboratory of a word-leading infection biology academic or clinician, which provides an ideal stepping stone if you wish to progress towards a PhD.

Medical Microbiology

MSc Medical Microbiology explores infectious disease, both national and global. It is ideal if you are a graduate or professional looking to develop or enhance your skills as a hands-on microbiologist. You will spend much of your time in the laboratory, gaining experience in traditional and current methods of laboratory diagnosis, treatment and management of infection.
