Consultancy opportunities

How we work with you

We can help you to develop a new curriculum or training programme, or enhance your current curriculum. You may consider licensing our undergraduate or postgraduate pharmacy, dentistry, medicine or other curriculum, or co-developing a joint training or education programme with us. You might want us to train your faculty in a new education approach or help you develop a faculty training programme of your own.

We are proud of our track record in health professional education partnership activity, and know the importance of meaningful collaboration, relationship building, and tailoring to local contexts and environments.

There are five key ways you can partner with us:

  • licensing our curricula;
  • developing a joint training programme with us;
  • working with us in a bespoke consultancy;
  • contracting one or more of our health professional education experts as a critical friend;
  • contracting one or more of our teams to train health professional education faculty.

Licence our curricula

Benefit from an established curriculum

It takes a long time to develop a world-leading health professional education curriculum. By licensing one of our curricula, you access an outstanding curriculum from a university regarded as one of the very best providers of health professional education.

We have established processes to translate our curricula, blending our expertise with our partners' local knowledge and needs.

Why work with us?

A proven track record

The health professional education teams at Manchester excel in teaching and learning. We have world-leading expertise in international partnerships, spanning over 20 years.

We were the first UK medical school to introduce problem-based learning (PBL) in the 1990s. We have continued with our tradition of innovation, becoming one of the first medical schools to introduce team-based learning.

We hosted the University Medical Assessment Partnership (UMAP), a JISC-funded project that went on to form the basis of the Medical School Council's Assessment Alliance. This ground-breaking work has led to an improvement in the quality of knowledge-based assessment by multiple choice questions across UK medical schools, and has influenced similar projects across the globe.

We have innovated in social accountability, with a focus on world-leading education in clinical communication and the Doubleday Centre for Patient Experience.

We were the first UK medical school to provide iPads for all of our students, and conducted research to understand their impact on learning and the student experience.

Manchester is a truly global university with students from around 160 different countries at any one time. Our education reflects this international outlook: we have experience of both internationalisation and working across global regions.

Our teams have worked in China, India, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Tanzania, Ghana and other countries. This work has taken place across a range of higher education institutions and clinical areas, including acute illness management, safety in the operating room and mental health nursing.

Evidence-based education is at the heart of all we do.

We have a commitment to capacity building in education research and scholarship, and have trained supervised health professionals from around the world in education research design, conduct, analysis and publication.

Our people are leaders in health professional education regionally, nationally and internationally.

We are a great team, and this means we can draw on a vast quantity and variety of expertise when we are working with our partners or delivering excellent education locally.
