Postgraduate welcome morning (Monday 24 September)
This will be held at the Manchester Dental Education Centre (MANDEC) (number 41 on the campus map) from 9am-1pm and lunch will be included.
The welcome reception event for new dentistry postgraduate research students will be held on Wednesday 9 October:
- 9am to 5pm at Chancellor's Hotel – Communications Course
- 6pm at Chancellor's Hotel – Welcome meal
The Division of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work induction will take place on 17 September 2019 10am-2pm. This will include a lunch with your supervisors from 12:30-1pm. We will contact you closer to the event with the location.
Students who have a primary supervisor in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health should follow the registration/induction information on the main page. If your primary supervisor is based in the Faculty of Science and Engineering, you will receive separate induction information.

The BBRSC welcome event will take place on Thursday 19 September from 11am-1:30pm in Simon Building 4.38.

An MRC Intro and Social will take place on Friday 20 September from 12:30pm-3pm in Simon Building 4.38.

Information for new Wellcome Trust students will be sent directly to you before you arrive.
- Wellcome Trust DCRN - Mini Symposium of supervisor presentations on Thursday 19 September at 10:00 - 15:00 and Friday 20 September at 10:00 - 15:00.
- Wellcome Trust QBB - Mini Symposium of supervisors presentations on Monday 23 September at 13:00 – 16:00 and Tuesday 24 September at 09:30 – 16:00.
All of the above events will take place in room A.1018, Michael Smith Building.
The Induction Events for the Wellcome Trust are as follows:
- Wellcome Trust QBB: Monday 16 September at 12-1.30pm in A.2026 Michael Smith Building
- Wellcome Trust DCRN: Monday 16 September at 2pm-3pm in A.2025 Michael Smith Building

We will be holding a Welcome Lunch for all A*Star students on Monday 23 September, 12pm-2pm at the Doctoral Academy (1.98 Simon Building). You should have received an email about this – please let us know if not.
All the information on these pages is relevant to our Singapore A*STAR offer holders. How your time is split between Manchester and Singapore will be confirmed as soon as possible, but it is expected that it will be Year 1 in Manchester, Years 2 and 3 in Singapore and Year 4 in Manchester.

When you are in Singapore, the A*STAR Agency is extremely organised and has hosted many students in the various institutions, so you will be well supported.
There is a large proportion of international students and researchers, especially in A*STAR. The Agency tries to meet with the awardees at least once a year to find out how they are doing generally and to learn about their progress.
