Postgraduate research students in the Faculty's Postgraduate Hub, University of Manchester

Student experience

When you become a postgraduate researcher at the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, you don't just become a student. You also become a member of a research community with access to world-class facilities and support.

Students enrolled on our PhD or MPhil programmes automatically become part of our Doctoral Academy, which oversees all postgraduate research activity in the Faculty, including funding programmes, training, facilities and support.

You will have access to:

  • a supervisory team including an independent adviser and a postgraduate tutor who will monitor your progression and provide pastoral support;
  • a range of training opportunities, to build your skills in and out of the lab;
  • a bespoke system for monitoring your personal development and academic progression;
  • cutting-edge facilities and technical equipment.

Even before you arrive in Manchester, we make sure you have the essential pre-arrival information you need for registration and induction.
