Find out

What was the interview like?

"I was immediately put at ease by my interviewer..."
Keira Hill, Children's Nursing student.

My BNurs interview

First year Keira talks us through her interview experience.

Clock icon.Duration: Around 20 minutes, but I know some people had either longer or shorter interviews.

How did you feel before your interview?

I was very nervous about my interview. I think the Russell Group status of the university and the fact I really wanted to come to Manchester made me more nervous at the time!

What was your interview like?

I had my interview over Zoom. When I arrived, my interviewer told me her role and explained she was a registered nurse. We began with a formal introduction, but I was immediately put at ease by my interviewer and the conversation became quite informal, which really made me relax. I didn't feel judged at all.

What were you asked about?

I'd gone into my interview thinking it was going to be about my grades, but she wanted to know about why I'd chosen to do the course, and why children's nursing over the other nursing courses. It was very focused on my personality, and traits of a children's nurse.

What would you say to someone preparing for an interview?

Don't worry. All you can do is try your best. Stay calm and breathe. If you can get help from your college with a mock interview, I'd really recommend it.

What happened next?

The interviewer gave me a date when I would receive a decision. I got my offer back on that day. As soon as you get your offer you start receiving emails, so I'd advise anyone who has an offer to keep checking your emails. You'll receive emails about criminal conviction documents, vaccines and health information, so have these available as soon as possible.

It all happened so quickly!
