Health professionals' views of factors that contribute to the success and effectiveness of support groups for patients with respiratory disease
Abstract
This is a qualitative pilot study investigating health professionals’ views of the factors that contribute to the success and effectiveness of support groups for patients with respiratory disease. It is being conducted in collaboration with South Manchester University Hospitals NHS Trust. The disease groups considered include lung cancer, interstitial lung disease, COPD and complex asthma. Data collection is through interviews and focus groups both with support group facilitators and with health professionals who work with the study patient groups but who currently do not run groups. Interviews and focus groups will be complemented by observation of support group meetings.Members of the project
