Ambassadors welcoming new students at Manchester airport.

Ambassadors

Would you like to speak to a current research student from your home country to find out more about being an international PhD student at Manchester?

At the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, we have ambassadors from many countries around the world to help you with any questions you may have about the application process, life at the University and more.

Find out if we have an ambassador from your country:

The University also has excellent resources for international applicants.

Naorin Sharmin, PhD student, Bangladesh

“I am very glad that I chose to do my PhD at The University of Manchester. From day one I have felt supported, be it regarding funding or just a little chat to keep me on track. I believe that I have advanced on both an academic and personal level throughout my course.”

Naorin Sharmin / PhD student, Bangladesh

Buddies scheme

There is a wealth of information on the International section of the University website to support your arrival, but we think that having a person you can contact directly is very important.

That is why we run a scheme to link up offer holders with a ‘buddy’ from their home (or nearby) country. Once you receive an offer, you will be assigned a buddy, who will contact you to offer direct assistance and support in the weeks ahead of your arrival in Manchester.

If you have a question about our ambassador or buddy schemes, please contact the Doctoral Academy at admissions.doctoralacademy@manchester.ac.uk.
