Adjusting to a new city or lab and postgraduate life can be daunting, but our students are supported by a wider research community and benefit from an environment that stimulates and develops interdisciplinary research.
Your group and lab
You will become a member of one of our individual research groups and labs, and they make a great effort to welcome new students.
Events and networking
Student representatives in the Postgraduate Society, with the support of the Faculty's Doctoral Academy, organise a series of social and academic events to help welcome and support new students, as well as encourage interaction and the sharing of ideas.
An example of one such event is our annual Postgraduate Research Showcase.
This provides an exciting opportunity to find out more about the pioneering research being conducted by students across the Faculty, with oral and poster presentations representing all of the Faculty's research areas.
Expert review panels provide feedback to support and develop the presentation skills of the oral presenters, while peer review opportunities develop the assessment skills of those involved.
