Prevent is part of the government's counter-terrorism strategy and is designed to tackle the problem of terrorism at its roots, preventing people from supporting terrorism or becoming involved in terrorism themselves.
This half-day workshop is an introduction to the Prevent strategy and an individual's role in safeguarding vulnerable people.
Who should attend?
A range of professionals from across the public and private sectors, particularly representatives from the NHS, criminal justice departments (including the police and courts), HM Prison Service, local authorities, social care agencies and the private sector.
About the trainer
Professor Jenny Shaw
Jenny is Professor of Forensic Psychiatry, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist and Academic Lead for the Offender Health Research Network at The University of Manchester.
She is also a Mental Health Lead for the Prevent strategy with Greater Manchester Police and has been widely published in the area of suicide and violence risk, as well as mental illness intervention of offenders within prisons and secure units.
