Psoriasis Shout Out: 50-Second Shout Outs
Professor Chris Griffiths and Susie Moschogianis of the Division of Musculoskeletal & Dermatological Sciences talk about a project recording accounts of living with psoriasis.
Psoriasis Shout Out aims to raise awareness of psoriasis and to bring patients together with professionals working in the field of psoriasis management and research.
In 2018, we marked the 50th anniversary of the UK Psoriasis Association with a creative audio project, 50-Second Shout Outs.
Our Public Programmes Team worked alongside Psoriasis Shout Out Ambassadors to shape the creative aspects of the project, using their input to determine what the finished outputs would look like and the content they would address.
We recorded 50-second snippets of people with psoriasis talking about what it's like to live with the condition.
Some of these were kept as film clips, while others were animated, and these were shared on the Psoriasis Shout Out Twitter and Facebook accounts, as well as being available on the Psoriasis Shout Out YouTube channel.
The 50-Second Shout Outs cover themes ranging from being positive about psoriasis and advocating for your own healthcare to discussing the psoriasis research taking place in Manchester and Salford.
The personal insights from patients and researchers alike contribute to Psoriasis Shout Out's aim of raising public awareness of psoriasis research.
The next stage of the project is to create some mini podcasts by taking snippets of audio from the recordings that will be available to listen to on the Psoriasis Shout Out website.
