The Dean's Prize: Early Career Researcher Development Award
We recognise that as an early career researcher, it can be challenging to get dedicated time and resource to enable you to gain research independence.
We are keen to bridge this gap by providing awards to fund outstanding researchers with the aim of enhancing competitiveness at external competition. As a Faculty, we can provide an exciting, vibrant and supportive environment for you to pursue your research career.
The Dean's Prize offers three years' funding, supported by Wellcome ISSF, for excellent pure science (not for clinically qualified and active applicants) early career researchers to work towards securing prestigious externally funded fellowships or investigator awards. Candidates typically have between three and seven years' postdoctoral research training, and have an exceptional track record of outputs.
Successful candidates benefit from being a part of an excellent research environment and from having the dedicated time, resource and mentorship to enhance their competitiveness for external awards.
The Dean's Prize provides the salary of the candidate for up to three years, with a start-up fund of £10,000 to cover research support costs and access to key technology platforms.
The award is open to both internal candidates and those applying from outside of The University of Manchester (internationally).
