Drug Development and Translational Pharmacology research

Our research ranges from the application of innovative imaging techniques to evaluate cellular uptake at the single molecule level to using physiologically-based pharmacokinetic modelling and simulation techniques that predict drug behaviour in a patient setting.

Our studies are underpinned by the use of complex in vitro and in vivo models of barrier and metabolism systems (eg in vitro model of blood brain barrier) and disease states (eg models of neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders).

We integrate the data we obtain using advanced analytical techniques with complex mathematical modelling approaches.

Our research covers four themes/applications:
