Pharmacy research groups

Our world-class pharmacy researchers are broadly divided between three groups.

The pharmaceutical sciences research group looks at drug design and development, while our drug usage and pharmacy practice group focuses on medicine use, pharmacy systems and the pharmacy workforce.

Our pharmacy education research is undertaken by a cross-discipline team of colleagues spanning both groups.

Researchers occupy recently refurbished accommodation, with state-of-the-art laboratory, office and computing facilities in-house, complemented by core facilities across the University.

Our research is multidisciplinary, engaging teams across faculties, with clinical research facilitated via the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC).

Our research staff secure funding from UK research councils (MRC, BBSRC, EPSRC), the European Union, the Department of Health, professional organisations and charities, and have excellent engagement with industry.

We supervise around 60 PhD students a year and we employ many outstanding postdoctoral researchers.
