We take part in events and festivals in the Manchester area. Through our Artefact Talks event series we invite historians, practitioners and artists to present their research around objects in the collection. Everyone is welcome to attend these events.

Current Events

Loan of medical artefacts to ‘A Healthy Profit’ exhibition at National Trusts’ Quarry Bank Mill, 19 Oct 2019 - 19 April 2020.

The exhibition incorporates research in Optometry at The University of Manchester to explore how the workers at Quarry Bank experienced health and illness, accident or injury, pregnancy and childbirth. Objects on loan include a teaching model of a human brain, Leech Jar and ceramic inhaler.

Loan of hearing aid collection to ‘Deaf Education & Audiology: a journey through artefacts, archives and creativity’ exhibition at Manchester Central Library, 14 Oct - 14 Dec 2019.

The exhibition is part of the 100-year anniversary celebrations of Deaf Education and Audiology at The University of Manchester. The exhibition also provokes questions around how we understand, collect and communicate D/deafness in a dominant hearing world. It is Curated by Dr Jenna C. Ashton, Lecturer and Programme Director of Heritage Studies at The University of Manchester.
