Genetic counselling consultation

Genetic Counselling (MSc)

Genetic counsellors help individuals and families affected by inherited disorders.

Postgraduate study within the field of genetic counselling offers professional training for those who wish to work directly with patients and families, helping them make health decisions.

A postgraduate programme in this field can provide you with:

  • academic and vocational training for professional genetic counsellors to work in the UK and overseas;
  • the necessary skills to contribute to the research and development of the profession;
  • an awareness of the importance of the psychosocial impact of human genetic technology among patients, health and social care professionals and wider society.

You will learn from academics and clinicians at the forefront of the genomic medicine service profession and research.

The University of Manchester was successful in tendering for the new three-year MSc Clinical Science (Genomic Sciences) course in 2016. Admissions are managed by the National School of Healthcare Science.
