About the Doctoral Academy
Welcome to the Doctoral Academy in the University of Manchester’s Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
The Doctoral Academy is part of The University of Manchester's Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health.
Within the Doctoral Academy, our goal is to create an environment that allows you to excel and reach your full potential as a postgraduate research student.
Offering access to first-class facilities and strong links with regional health service providers, our postgraduate research degree programmes are designed to meet the diverse needs of all our students.
Research topics span all areas of biomedical research, from molecular biology to experimental medicine to dental science and health services research.
While our subject areas are broad, our postgraduate programmes have three principal aims:
- to develop research skills through your execution of a research project under the supervision of a highly qualified member of staff and with the guidance of an adviser;
- to enhance your education within the field you have chosen. Whether you are a graduate or have a clinical background, training is tailored to meet your specific needs;
- to develop key transferable skills which you can take with you into your chosen career whether it be in academia, industry, healthcare or beyond.
As a research student in the Doctoral Academy, you are expected to take responsibility for your programme within a supportive environment that fosters your development and helps prepare you for your future career.
This website contains information that will be useful at different stages of your programme. It provides specific information about the key steps in your research degree and the training programmes offered to support your success.
