Overview

Our Restorative and Aesthetic Dentistry PGDip is the first online postgraduate degree in the subject to be launched in the UK.

We have collaborated with healthcare learning company Smile-on to enable dentists to learn more about aesthetic and restorative techniques to add to their own clinical practice.

You will cover areas such as:

  • patient communication and treatment presentation;
  • current techniques, materials and clinical advances in anterior aesthetics;
  • current techniques, materials and clinical advances in posterior aesthetics;
  • treatment planning of the complex aesthetic case;
  • restoration of endodontically treated teeth.

You will also gain practical experience of the following through the mandatory hands-on component of the course, which is completed during residentials in both years:

  • aesthetic recontouring
  • clinical photography
  • sliced veneers and ¾ crowns
  • restorative gingival techniques.

Entry requirements

You will be required to provide evidence of your primary dental qualification from a recognised institution.

You are also required to have at least two years' experience in general professional practice.

You must complete the University of Manchester's online application form  and provide us with all your supporting documents as listed on the website. Supporting documents can be uploaded when you complete the application form or emailed to us at pgtaught.dentistry@manchester.ac.uk . Please include your University of Manchester ID number in all correspondence.

There is no application fee.

Course description

This course is the first blended learning postgraduate degree in the subject to be launched in the UK. We have collaborated with Healthcare Learning Ltd., the UK's pre-eminent healthcare education provider with the aim to develop dentists' skills in the area of restorative and aesthetic dentistry.

Fees

Home students: £20,000 plus £3,000 for the dissertation.

Overseas students: £23,000 plus £3,000 for the dissertation.
