We undertake world-leading dentistry research that aspires to have a significant impact on improving population oral health, reducing inequalities and improving the delivery and quality of dental services and clinical care.
Our dentistry research was judged to be excellent in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF), in which we formed a combined unit of assessment with the allied health professions, nursing and pharmacy.
Our research priorities include:
- improving our understanding of the development and progression of oral and cranio-facial conditions;
- creating innovative and effective treatments, service designs, and public health interventions;
- testing the costs and effects of interventions to prevent or manage oro-facial conditions;
- identifying the means of implementing cost-effective interventions into dental services.
