Research Domain Director, Evolution, Systems and Genomics
Professor Simon Lovell was appointed as Research Domain Director for Evolution, Systems and Genomics in January 2018.
Simon is Professor of Molecular Biology in the Division of Evolution and Genomic Sciences, and leads a research group which focuses on understanding how complex biological functions arise from molecules, their three dimensional shapes and their interactions. The lab uses computational methods to study these biological problems.
Having graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Bath, Simon went on to obtain a PhD in protein crystallography from Bristol in 1995. Subsequently Professor Lovell worked with the Richardson Research Group at Duke University and the Blundell Group in Cambridge before coming to Manchester in 2003.
